Case Studies in Medicated Caused Suffering and Death
In 2022, Juanne Nancarrow Clarke published a book titled When Medicine Goes Awry with University of Toronto Press, offering a sociological approach to medical error that results in death and suffering. Medicalization, pharmaceuticalization and the social determinants of health are among explanations used.
The book is based on case studies such as the case of Brian Sinclair an Indigenous man who died after waiting 34 hours in an ER despite the fact that his medical issue was an easily treatable bladder infection.
